WHY STAND YE IDLE?

"Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he
will send forth labourers into his harvest." Matt. 9:38

In Matt 20:1-16, Jesus gives us a parable of a man hiring labourers to work in his vineyard. As he would go to the marketplace, he would see the people standing by idle. "Why stand ye here all the day idle?" he asked. "Because no man hath hired us." How sad that so many are waiting for the acceptance, appreciation, or applause of man, when God is ready, willing, and able to put us in His field. Matt. 9:39, "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few." Literally thousands are sitting in churches, waiting to be called of man, not God. Don't they know that God is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him? Did you know that it was once said about:

Vince Lombardi, the great footbal coach - "He has little football knowledge and no motivation?"
Beethoven - "Was told he was hopeless as a composer?"
Thomas Edison - "Teachers said he was too stupid to learn?"
Albert Einstein - "Did not talk until age 4, did not read until age 7, was described as mentally slow, and was once expelled from school?"
Henry Ford - "Was advised to give up on his horseless carriage with the counsel that it would never catch on?"
Wright Brothers - "Were told they would never get that contraption off the ground?"

Maybe we had better quit listening and looking for man's endorsement, and seek God's counsel. Let's take Phil. 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me," and run with it!

Thanks and God bless! Pastor Earl Beal
