NO APPETITE IS NATURAL"For where your treasure is, there The old adage, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink," is so true. Many times, over the years, so many people have shared with me, how they were made to go to church when they were young. They like to blame that for why they fail to go now. Well, actually they were telling on themselves and didn't realize it. They were admitting that they were not willing and desiring to go; and on top of that, it sounds like they were disobedient children. The truth of the matter is, they were showing symptoms of a natural heart that we are born with. Once a person realizes their need of help to be justified with God, they will find that by placing their faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, they will have a new birth and new desires. II Cor. 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new." You will then possess a life, which has an appetite, to be in God's house, with God's family, singing praises unto God, and hungry for the preaching of God's Word. The same reason so many profess not to be a church person is the same reason I am not a tavern person: different natures and appetites. Matt. 5:6, "Blessed are they which do HUNGER and THIRST after righteousness; for they shall be filled." The lack of appetite is just a symptom of our condition, not the problem. God is calling you to Him, but He will not force you to love Him. You must, by faith, receive Him as Savior. Won't you accept His invitation of salvation? Thanks and God bless! Pastor Earl Beal |
