LEADING OUR YOUTH TO CHURCH

"Not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together..." Heb. 10:25

As we look across the beautiful landscaping of America, we see the generous dotting of churches that clearly tell and teach us the great importance that was placed by our early parents on the family, worshipping in the House of God. Sunday was the Lord's Day and our labor ceased, to honor and give thanks to our Lord and Savior for His mercy and grace. The family and church seemed inseparable. The ways of the Lord were instilled into the minds and, hopefully, the hearts of our children. Yet today, we seem to feel that we can raise our children without the teachings and authority of God. Church seems to be only when we have a need, not a place of worship. I was talking to a funeral director the other day, and he mentioned how so many have no active religious affiliation today. I appreciated his view that the church was where, he really felt, funerals should take place. Could it be that the problems we are facing in America are not from our youth, but from our adults? The last part of Heb. 10:25 says we are to assemble, "...so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." But I'm too busy, or I'm too tired! The path away from church will keep you busy and tired in ways you will not enjoy. Church is a friend to the family, and help in time of need. The truth may seem hard, but try living a lie to the end. I Cor. 1:18 says, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that PERISH foolishness; but unto us which are SAVED it is the power of God." Hope to see you Sunday!
