THE STRANGLEMENT OF ENTANGLEMENT"No man that warreth entangleth himself Do you ever feel as if someone has their hands around your neck trying to strangle you, and you're fighting hard to survive? Do you feel that you've lost your grip on the control switch? Well, you're not alone! Stress has become the accepted emotion of society. We hardly know up from down, and we meet ourselves coming and going. Note Prov. 15:17, "Better is a dinner of herbs where LOVE is, than a stalled ox and HATRED therewith." Does the appeal of a simpler life seem attractive? The verse says that a salad with love is more satisfying than eating "high on the ox," at each other's throat. Prov. 17:1, "Better is a dry morsel and quietness therewith, than a house full of sacrifices with strife." Are the sacrifices we're making, to find acceptance in name brand clothes, social achievements, and prestige, worth the stress? We have embarked upon a lifestyle that pulls us apart instead of bringing us together. The Bible way is in Matt. 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God." If we will put God in the center of our life, instead of the corner of our life, we will find a key to relieving stress. God has promised to meet our every need. God will place focus on that which is important; and we will not be found, "majoring in the minors, and minoring in the majors." One day soon the issue of heaven or hell will seem much more important than Nikes or Adidas. Only Jesus can fill that void that you feel! Thanks and God bless! Pastor Earl Beal |
