SURVIVAL OR REVIVAL?

So many times we pray for revival,
yet we become spiritual survivalists!

Our goal can become: "keeping the doors open", "hanging on", or "being the pillar" that's keeping it all from collapsing. In the book of Nehemiah, we find Isreal in a horrible state of affliction and reproach. The wall of the city was broken down, and the people existing. Guess who came before God, broken and burdened to rebuild the wall and change the situation? Those affected by the plight? No, it was Nehemiah, the cupbearer to the King of Persia. When he heard of the condition of his people, he wanted revival, not survival. God answered his prayers, and gave him favor with the people. Though physically removed, he was spiritually attached. He knew God had more for them than an existence. Nehemiah knew if they would repent and turn to God, He would bless them. The Bible tells us in Jn. 14:2-3 of a place prepared for you and me. But first we have to let go of our sinful condition and hell, and reach for forgiveness and heaven through Jesus Christ our Lord. It amazes me how tightly people grip hell, and how hard it is for us to let God give us heaven. Is there a Nehemiah in your life, trying to help you? Could they be trying to point you to Jesus, the light of the world? Jn. 1:12, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God..." Don't settle for anything less than heaven. Revival has a price, but survival has a greater one!
