TIME TO STEP UP AND GO

"In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths." Prov. 3:6

In high school I was a sprinter, and always remember the adrenalin flowing as I would put my foot on the line and crouch into position, trying to get the best spring from the starting blocks, as the official would raise the gun and say, ON YOUR MARKS.....GET SET.....BANG!!! Well, here we are at the starting line of 2010 and the decision of whether or not to have a New Years Resolution is going through our minds. The old negative thoughts say, "What's the use, you'll fail once again." Yet, I challenge you to ignore that little voice and do a spiritual inventory of your life. Where are you with God? Are you prepared to stand before the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords? Why not make some new commitments or renew some old, but stagnant, vows. The greatest of failures is the fear of failure; to just not care or try. Have you been thinking about getting your family into church? Parents, do you realize that we should lead our families in the ways of the Lord? Prov. 16:3 says, "Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established." Have some of the actions of your children been of concern to you? Our thoughts come from what we read, watch, and see around us. Apostle Paul's goal was to "...bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." Don't shun God's word, church, family, and replace them with Hollywood and Internet searches, and expect to have a peaceful and promising future. Why don't you lead your family to Joy Baptist Church on Sunday, and put some right thoughts and desires in their minds. God bless and hope to see you!
