SOME GREAT "MUSTS""And he must needs go through One of the great blessings of being saved and placed in the family of God, is that we are given a "great" com-mission by our Commander-in Chief, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus, in Jn. 4:36, tells us why he must go through Samaria: "My meat is to do the WILL of him that sent me, and to finish his work." Jesus knows that any other choice outside of his father's will is not acceptable. The Jews, because of prejudice and hatred, had shunned Samaria. Jesus tells us in Jn. 10:16 about the "other sheep I have which are not of this fold: them (gentiles) I also must bring." Notice how Jesus had a "must needs" driven life. Just like in Jn. 3:14 when he said that, "even so must the Son of man be lifted up." Like the great hymn that goes, "I must needs go home (heaven) by the way of the cross, There's NO other way but this." Then there's that "must" doctrine in Jn. 20:9 that says, "that he (Jesus) must rise again from the dead." I thank God that he has so clearly led my life in a "must needs" way. As our children were going to start to school, I knew we "must needs" send them to public school, so that they could be a LIGHT for Jesus. I knew one day almost sixteen years ago, that I "must needs" go to Fort Madison and tell people about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Do you realize that God wants to be the LORD OF OUR LIFE? It's always interesting to hear why people move in or out of an area. It's often for profit, promotion, problems, or even the fishing and hunting. If you read Jn. 4, you would find that Jesus left comfortable Judaea, to go through Samaria, to help others. He'd already left comfortable Heaven to die, so there's nothing unusual about Samaria for Him. Thanks! Pastor Earl Beal |
