LET'S GIVE THANKS!"It is a good thing to give thanks More than likely you're still trying to get your belt fastened where it was on Wednesday, before you feasted on Thursday's Thanksgiving dinner. Setting aside a special day to give thanks unto the Lord for His generous and perennial blessings, shows a healthy and wealthy heart. A thankful heart is an appreciative heart that acknowledges the bounty of blessings that is poured out around us all. Receiving thanks should never be our motivation for service, nor our destination that we aim for, but is definitely the lubrication, that is the oil of gladness. If I were to give you a recipe for marriage, friendship, church, or the workplace, I would be sure to include among love, faithfulness, giving, and etc., a heaping and overflowing cup of thankfulness! So many times in a marriage, or any relationship for that matter, you will find that someone doesn't feel appreciated. I'm afraid that so many times we are guilty of leaving out thankfulness in the "comfort zones" of our lives. Those we are closest to, we sometimes fail in letting them know how much we appreciate all that they do. I wonder, if we would show more thankfulness, if maybe it would add an oil of sweetness and joy to the task. Thankfulness is instructed in God's Word. In I Thess. 5:18 it says, "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God..." I'm glad that God is faithful, even when we are not thankful. That it's God's love, not our thanks, that motivates Him, or we would be in big trouble. God has made a way of salvation to all that will call upon Him by faith. There is no such thing as a cheap Christian. Every saved sinner is purchased by the blood of Jesus. God gave the ultimate sacrifice for our sin, as nothing else could satisfy the wages of sin. Won't you receive Him as Savior today? Thank you Lord Jesus! Thanks! Pastor Earl Beal |
