CHRIST, THE COMFORT IN CRISIS!!"Wherefore comfort one another No doubt people are still pinching themselves to wake out of the horrible nightmarish event which unfolded upon America, Tuesday, September 11th, 2001. As an American, and veteran of the U.S. Army, my military instinct and patriotism was quick to want immediate, and severe consequences, for this dastardly and cowardly act of evil. But just as quick, the Holy Spirit was there, pricking my heart to remind me that again we see so clearly the truth of God's Word. The verse in Jer. 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it." Over in Rom. 3:10 we hear that "There is none righteous, no not one," followed by man's indictment of guilty before God. Sept. 11th was so clear as to why we must always live each day as if it's our last. The only way one could have been prepared for that day, was to know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. The brevity of life is a vapor at best, let alone a premature appointment caused by some demon posessed achievers. God has made salvation so clear and accessible. If we will just humble ourselves, and realize that God gave His Son Jesus to die on Calvary, we can be forgiven and set free by His blood. Rom. 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." In verse 13, I find a beautiful promise from God that, "For WHOSOEVER (put your name there) shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." You see, salvation isn't in baptism, church membership, good deeds, sacraments, or anything else, but in Jesus Christ. Then we can be like Apostle Paul in II Cor. 5:8 "...confident I say and willing rather to be absent from the body, and present with the Lord." Are you prepared? Thanks! Pastor Earl Beal |
