THE LAST STRAW

"Let not the sun go down upon
your wrath." Eph. 4:26

Have you ever heard the expression, "the straw that broke the camel's back"? It refers to a situation which has been building up, until it only took a small "piece of straw", so to speak, to break down a situation. It may be anger, frustration, bitterness, hurt, stress, or just an overloaded life. Maybe you have been that "piece of straw" that said something at the wrong time, or the wrong thing, and someone went off on you. People in broken relationships, whether marriage, friendship, relation, or neighbor, must be quick to realize that there might be far more to a situation, than is seen if someone explodes or over-reacts at a "piece of straw". Sometimes a forgiving spirit which offers another chance, or is quick to absorb an unjustified attack of words, or offering an unexpected hand, can be God's instrument that strengthens the load. The Lord Jesus is always looking to give us a lift. In Matt. 11:28, it says, "Come unto me; all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Here we find the Lord, whom we so many times have forgotten, just waiting to help us. In I Pet. 5:7 it says, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." What a great invitation from God for us to roll all our problems and perplexing situations over to Him. Let's be wise and deal with the situation now, before it gets to the place that a little "straw" destroys a valuable marriage, friendship, or church. Remember this, that "an over-loaded camel makes the journey bumpy, and the camel grumpy!" Maybe you have blown up at someone who wasn't deserving of your wrath or action. Give them a call or send them this note, to let them know that they were a "piece of straw", not "the whole bale"! God bless and...
