TRUE PEACE"And the peace of God, which What would someone think if they asked you if you're married and you said, "I think so", "I feel like I am", or "I hope so!"? These answers would be pretty unusual and vague for an event so memorable and important. It was an event that brought family and friends to witness before God the joining together of two lives into one; where two lives made a sincere vow before God and man to love, hold, and endure through good times and bad. Marriage is an event where two are pronounced man and wife before God and man by a minister. Do you realize that marriage and salvation have much in common? Salvation is an act of faith, where two become one in Christ. God, who first loved us, had been courting and drawing us to HIM, until we said, "Yes Jesus, "I Do" trust you as my Savior." It is a time that we place our trust in the finished work of Jesus to save and keep us. Rom. 5:1 tells us that "Therefore being justified (saved) by faith, we have (present tense) peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ..." That's right, the moment you by faith call upon the Lord Jesus Christ, that moment you are pronounced righteous before God Almighty! Hallelujah, what a Savior! Not only are we saved now, but we are saved also in the future. Rom. 5:9 says it so well, "...being NOW justified by his blood; we shall (futuristic) be saved from wrath through him (Jesus)." Praise the Lord that our assurance is based on our belief in God's word, not our behavior each day. Apostle Paul said it like this, "...for I know whom (not what) I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." II Tim. 1:12b When I said, "I DO" to my bride (marriage) and my savior (salvation), I was also saying "I DON'T" to all the rest. Thanks! Pastor Earl Beal |
