EASY PICKENS"Then when lust hath conceived Over the years of working with young people, I would tell them that a person can find a JOB, SPOUSE, and CAR in one day, if they throw away their standards, morals, and expectations. If you don't care whether the JOB you take will provide an honest, comfortable, and sufficient wage to raise your family and glorify God, then I guess you could say, "Wow, I have a job!" If you don't care if your SPOUSE is of an equal yoke, II Cor. 6:14, "be ye not unequally yoked together...," or can fulfill the requirements you have set down as most essential in glorifying God, then I guess you could say, "Wow, I have found a spouse!" I would always joke and tell people that my girls had to lower their standards when looking for a husband, because they wanted one like their Dad. Ha! Ha! If it doesn't matter to you that the CAR you buy has been cared for, maintained, and is trustworthy, then I guess you could say, "Wow, I have a car!" It saddens and disappoints my heart to see how little we want for those around us whom we claim to love. Adults, we should be setting an example for our youth! To play on the weaknesses of those around us and to entice them to do wrong is certainly not Christ-like. James 1:13 says, "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempted he any man." If I want to do what Jesus would do, then I will not be a part of placing temptation before those that are weak. Let's give our lives to pulling people up, not in trying to profit by pushing them down. God's Word will teach us the "big picture" in looking for THE job, spouse, and car that HE has for us! Patience to wait upon the Lord can pay great dividends. Thanks! Pastor Earl Beal |
