A FALSE MEASURE

"Who can say, I have made my heart
clean, I am pure from my sin?" Prov. 20:9

I want to challenge you to think for a minute at how foolish it is for a person to feel that he can stand before a Holy and Just God on their own merit. For one to stand in the mercy of God and to reject His offer of Grace through the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ is so sad. In Rom. 10:3 it speaks of those who "...being ignorant of God's rightousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness..." Here we find a group of self-righteous folks, setting a man-made standard for righteousness, believing that they can stand before God justified by their unclean lives. In Job 14:4 it says, "Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one." For man to change the rules and to measure himself to another man will only leave him walking in darkness. II Cor. 10:12 tells us that, "...they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." We also find in Prov. 11:1 that, "A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight." If we would acknowledge that the best that man can bring to God, is far short of true righteousness. The Apostle Paul in Phil. 3 shared with us how all of the confidence that he had in the flesh, was valued as dung, when he seen the righteousness of Jesus Christ. All of his fleshly assets he was so proud of, were actually vain liabilities, worth nothing in justifying him before God. Paul said in vs. 9 "and be found IN him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith." Paul made the "greatest exchange" in all the world; his filthy, worthless, works, for the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Won't you trust HIM now?
